1. Can I use Create a Shipment for pickup request from the U.S. to Canada?

No, you cannot. The Create a Shipment feature is available only for domestic or Southbound shipments. Please contact our Customer Care Centre (CCC) at 1.866.329.7677 for Northbound shipments.

2. I want to ship from U.S. to Canada. Whom do I contact?

Please contact our Customer Care Centre (CCC) at 1.866.329.7677.

3. What documentation do I need to supply when shipping from the U.S. to Canada?

To ensure your shipment clears Canadian Customs in a timely manner, it is essential that all necessary documents are properly completed. Inaccurate or incomplete information may result in delays. You must provide a complete Bill of Lading and an Invoice (Commercial or Customs), (include shipment value and broker’s information). NAFTA or Certificate of Origin is necessary only if the product is exempt from duties and taxes. If the shipped goods are obtained or produced entirely in the U.S., Mexico, or Canada, the shipment may qualify to enter the country under the reduced duty treatment. If you ship to Canada on a regular basis, you may want to set up a blanket Certificate of Origin through your customs broker.

Canada Border and Services Agency (CBSA) requires detailed commodity descriptions. Failure to do so may delay your shipment at the border. As a guideline, when you describe your shipment you must answer these questions: What is it? What is it made of? What is it used for? How many are there? For more details please see ACI eManifest Requirements.

4. How do I determine my own NMFC code?

Please refer to the National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) guidelines and definitions to determine a shipment’s actual class. If you have a customized US density tariff published by Day & Ross, or if you need assistance with simplified and easy-to-use density-driven NMFC-based pricing, please call Spot Quotes at 1-888-657-7070 or speak with a Day & Ross Sales Professional.

5. Why will R+L Carriers not pick up at convention centres in the U.S.?
